Mistreated at work?

Mistreated at work?

I used to work for a Korean couple who conducted English workshops for middle school and high school Korean children during summer.В  They had been holding these summer workshops for a number of years before I even worked for them.В  With this said, there were labels such as «old teachers» for the ones who had been with the couple for more than two years; and «new teachers» for the ones like me, a first-timer in their group.В  I have worked with a Korean company before I worked for the said Korean couple.В  I know that all races can be racists at times.В  But I never really thought I would work for them.

Mentioned above are a few of the many mistreatments employees experience at work.В  One of the common complaints of employee nowadays may be is that they are overworked but underpaid.В  Some may even be experiencing bullying in the office.В  As followers of Christ, we should see beyond the employer’s maltreatment and our complaints.В  God put our bosses as authorities over us, therefore, no matter how irritating our bosses can be, we should respect them as mentioned in 1 Peter 2:18.

«Do what they tell younot only if they are kind and reasonable, but even if they are cruel.»В  1 Peter 2:18 (New Living Translation)

When we patiently endure the mistreatment and respond with a manner that is pleasing to God, then God is pleased with us (1 Peter 2:19-20) and will reward us for it (3:14) Do not think that nobody can see our hurts, God can.В  Do not think that nobody sees our suffering, God can.В  And God can definitely see the ill-treatment done by those who are given authority.В  And they will be held responsible by their Master in heaven for how they were with the subordinates given to them (Colossians 4:1).

When maltreated at work, let us remember and follow the example given to us by Jesus (v.21).В  First, He did not sin (v.22).В  Secondly, He did not strike back in whatever way.В  He did not jeopardize the Father’s plan for mankind by threatening revenge (v.23).В  Thirdly, He trusted God the Father who always judges fairly (v.23).В  Let us remember that Jesus bore our sins so we can live right in the eyes of God, that by His wounds, weare healed (v.24).В  Lastly, remember that Jesus is our Shepherd, our Guardian (v.25).В  Trust in Him because He takes care of His own.
